TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION
Increasingly, computer technology is all around us. New technologies are in our homes, our workplaces, and of course our schools. Abu Dhabi Grammar School (Canada) provides an opportunity for each student to have access to new technologies as they become available. However, access alone is not enough. We believe that responsible use of technology is a vital part of the experience that allows our students to be more creative, not less.

Each classroom is provided with a variety of materials with a special focus on Chromebooks and Google Apps. Every student from Grade 4 to 12 is provided with a Google Education account and AGS email address. This account includes unlimited cloud storage through Google Drive and a suite of other applications like Google Classroom and productivity apps such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Students have access to their accounts from anywhere in the world, not just the classroom. Students from grades 4-6 are provided Chromebooks during class time and students in grades 7-12 are on a one-to-one program with their own Chromebooks purchased through the school.

Our younger students (KG-Grade 3) have access to iPads and software such as Reading A-Z. It is our intention to ensure each student becomes a confident user of technology early in their formal education. Creation rather than consumption is encouraged.

Every year AGS is providing a more flexible and exciting user experience for our students across the technological spectrum. Recently, students have started to learn to code as part of their regular instruction alongside project based learning using Makey Makeys, Spheros, and Lego Robotics Kits. We believe that technology is a powerful way to serve students with different learning styles across the curriculum.

We are excited about the future at AGS and we want every student to be well prepared to engage with it!
