Film & Video

Film and Video Production students explore the art and craft of filmmaking through hands-on activities and theoretical study at Abu Dhabi Grammar School. They begin by learning the basics of camera structure and its functions. We go on learning frame compositions and light painting. Then scriptwriting before they transition to pre-production, where they plan storyboards, scout locations, and develop shot lists. In the production phase, they work collaboratively to operate cameras, record sound, and direct scenes, experiencing the roles of a film crew firsthand.

Post-production introduces editing techniques using professional software, as students assemble footage, add sound effects, and edit their films. We have robust computers and industry standard software at AGS. Along the course students analyze iconic films to understand cinematic techniques like framing, lighting, and sound design. Special projects include creating short films, filming interviews, or recreating sounds by utilizing Foley technique. By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio of creative projects that showcase their technical and artistic growth.
